In the process, they discover cute little Bella, and Lucas brings her home to live with him and his mother , a veteran who's struggling with depression. For a while, Bella enjoys an idyllic life with Lucas and his mom and even comforts the veterans at the VA hospital where Lucas works . But when animal control deems Bella dangerous (because she's part pit) and threatens euthanasia, Lucas teaches her a game called "Go Home" in which she races back to their house. After Lucas is forced to place Bella in the temporary care of Olivia's aunt and uncle in New Mexico, Bella believes she must play "Go Home" and begins her long, perilous journey home. As a puppy, Bella finds her way into the arms of Lucas, a young man who gives her a good home. When Bella becomes separated from Lucas, she soon finds herself on an epic 400-mile journey to reunite with her beloved owner.

It got too convenient with the reunion in the wolf attack. Sometimes, a character left behind is better off being left behind. The cougar does not need to make a return appearance. I would have preferred Bella to make the escape herself.
After briefly reuniting with Mother Cat, Bella reaches the city's VA hospital, where she joyfully reunites with Lucas, Terri, and Olivia. The three men give Bella food at their campsite and upon learning who her owner is, try to call Lucas, only to be scared away by the sudden arrival of Big Kitten. During the winter, Bella helps rescue a man buried in an avalanche. Eventually, she reaches a small town, where she is temporarily taken in by a homeless veteran named Axel until he soon dies. Back in the wilderness, Bella is attacked by coyotes again, but Big Kitten, now fully grown, returns and intervenes, successfully fighting off the coyotes. At each place Bella goes, she learns that each of her new friends has its own home, and how she must keep moving to get back to her family. Along the way, the lost but spirited dog touches the lives of an orphaned mountain lion, a down-on-his-luck veteran and some friendly strangers who happen to cross her path.
Lucas and Olivia are happy to see Bella and manage to move into a house in Golden, where they allow Pitbulls. Meanwhile, Big Kitten is revealed to be a mother herself as she and her daughter watch over the city of Denver. While no new Christmas films have been announced yet, it can be expected to see Hallmark alums Lacey Chabert, Jonathan Bennett and Ryan Paevey under some mistletoes in 2023. Meanwhile, newcomers to the channel like Days of Our Lives alum Chandler Massey and Fuller House star John Brotherton seem to be making Hallmark films one of their Christmas traditions. Season 9 of the Hallmark hit left fans with a slew of questions, including fearing for Bill's health, wondering if Henry could be redeemed for his actions, and how wedding planning will go for fan-favorite couple Elizabeth and Lucas.

This film really plays on all strings of human emotions, and my wife had a flashflood of tears when watching, making me laugh as usual.... Yes, this is the same story told again (Homeward Bound and it's various sequels), however it's a little different.

To avoid this, Lucas sends Bella to live with Olivia's aunt and uncle in Farmington, New Mexico, until he and his mother can find another home outside of Denver's urban limit. He names the dog Bella and takes her home to live with him and his mother, Terri.
He is admittedly sensitive about animals, and this movie is filled with traumatic situations for the dog who is always under threat. These are disturbing threats, not like Homeward Bound which he loves. So if your kid is sensitive especially about animal abuse, I would definitely avoid. Watch full seasons of exclusively streaming series, classic favorites, Hulu Originals, hit movies, current episodes, kids shows, and tons more. The film stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Ashley Judd, Edward James Olmos, Alexandra Shipp, Wes Studi, Chris Bauer, Barry Watson, and Jonah Hauer-King, and follows a dog named Bella who travels more than 400 miles to find her owner. A heartwarming tale of a loving dog who is a victim of breed discrimination doesnt understamd that her owner must send her away to protect her and her mission was to find him again. I laughed i cried and i feel in love with a dog named bella and the friends she made along the way. With 2022's Countdown to Christmas nearing its end with movies that include the channel's first-ever LGBTQ-led rom-com and its first film centered around Kwanzaa, 2023 is set to be an even bigger year for Hallmark. With a slew of new movies set for the new year, two brand-new series and the 10th season of the channel's biggest primetime show, Hallmark Channel has all of your romcom desires.
There were a number of crying kids, and even some of the adults walked out with some tears, so be prepared. Having the story told from the dog's perspective helps too, as does some delightfully funny scenes. There's a wonderful warmth and engagement to proceedings. There are no featured audience reviews for A Dog's Way Home at this time. Verified reviews are considered more trustworthy by fellow moviegoers.
But the movie's second half, which deals with the series of sad to seriously upsetting obstacles Bella faces once she's separated from Lucas, is overlong. And when Bella ends up with homeless Axel , things get downright depressing. The theme of veterans suffering from mental illness works in the context of service dogs, but Axel's situation seems a bit heavy for what's otherwise clearly a family-targeted film. There's a brief moment of happiness when Bella temporarily lives with a kind married couple who want to adopt her. She's tempted, but her heart belongs at home, with Lucas.
In order for Lucas to prevent Bella from being permanently locked up, Lucas sends her to live with another family over 600 kms away. However, Bella is determined to find her way home. The 'agenda' items like the married gay couple about mid-way through, and the war veterans suffering from depression utilizing dogs for therapy, went over the heads of the kids. There are some areas where they replaced animals with CGI and some of it looks really good, but really fake, but 1- my kids didn't notice all that much, and 2- it's a movie... Let's just turn off our minds for about 2 hours and just watch a wholesome family movie. This is a very well written story of a pit bull going home - now you will know what they are.
